Murchison Falls Kibale Safari is a 5-day Uganda safari adventure. This Uganda tour takes you to Murchison Falls and Kibale National Parks. Murchison Falls is home to the Kabalega Falls. Kibale is home to 13 primate species. It is one of the best places to track chimpanzees in the world.

About Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison falls national park derives its name from Murchison falls. This is where the mighty river Nile explodes through a narrow gorge. It flows down to become a placid river Nile down stream. The banks of the river having may schools of hippos and crocodiles. You will also find water bucks, elephants and buffaloes. 

The vegetation is more savannah, riverine forest and woodland. Wild animals in Murchison Falls include lions, leopards, elephants and giraffes. You will also come past buffaloes, hartebeest, oribis and Uganda Kob among other Species. 

Murchison Falls National park is the largest of Uganda Parks.

Nile safari lodge is on the southern banks of river Nile. The Lodge is surrounded by the well-to-do papyrus forest.

Kibale National Park is the Primate Capital of the world. Don’t quote me, check on google or go there to prove this. 

This Uganda National Park is home to 13 Primate Species. The star attraction here is the common Chimpanzees is among. 

The forest is a diverse pre-historic habitat that supports remarkable flora. Kibale has trees that are over 200 years old and over 55m tall. 

Kibale National Park is home to over 350 of birds. They include the endemic ground thrush and the fauna.

5 Day Uganda Safari to Murchison Falls and Kibale

Day 1: Start the 5 Day Uganda Safari to Murchison Falls and Kibale

Kampala to Murchison Falls Wildlife Park

The morning starts early as we begin our 5-day Uganda Safari. We begin our journey northward to Murchison Falls National Park through Masindi. Before Masindi there is the option of adding on the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is a large preserve where Rhinos are being bred. This is to restock Murchison Falls National Park with Rhinos. It is important to note that the last rhino in Uganda was shot in 1982. As we enter the park, we go the top of the falls that make Murchison Falls National Park so famous. This is a place for most memorable pictures. You will also be taking in of the sounds and sights. You cannot miss the ever-present rainbow created by the mist of the falls.

At the top of the falls, the Nile river is 50 meters wide and goes through a 7-meter-wide gorge. It plunges down 45 meters creating a roaring sound that will stay with you. You will never forget standing alongside the mighty River Nile.

After some refreshments we take the late afternoon game drive. You will be out to view some of the best wildlife and birds in Uganda. Murchison Falls Park is fabulous. Lions, Elephants, Antelopes such as Uganda Kob will be on the agenda. Also, on the list are Giraffes, Buffaloes all there as you move through the savanna landscape. Take it all in, it is most wonderful and awesome. Afterwards it is dinner at your place of lodging and a well-deserved rest.

Day 2: Safaris drive & Nile boat Safari 

Murchison Falls National Park

Early morning breakfast and off for the morning game drive. You will be out to see more and new animals and birds as you travel along Lake Albert and through the savannah. You will be glad that you came here and hate to return to the lodging facility for rest and lunch.

After lunch it is off to one of the major highlights of Murchison Falls National Park. Take a motorized boat ride on the Nile. You will see the crocodiles, the many hippos along the bank and in the river. There are also lost of  birds species to see on the cruise. Others include monkeys, buffaloes, elephants and so much more. You should not miss the bottom of the falls. This is a three hour trip and it is best to wear a hat and lots of lotion. Use some insect repellent to avoid Tsetse and other flies bites.
Dinner at lodging and rest for the night.

Day 3: Depart for Kibale 

Drive to Fort Portal – Kibale National Park 

Enjoy an early breakfastbefore leaving Murchison Falls National Park. the destnation today will be to Kibale National Park. You will drive through some beautiful countryside which is a bonus along the way. Lunch along the journey and of course we provide drinking Water while in the vehicle as we travel. 

We reach Fort Portal area where we will check into your accommodation. We check in and have dinner and rest for the night after a long day of travel. Recommended for the experience (Chimps’ Nest Tree House in the jungle)

Day 4: Uganda Chimpanzee Tracking 

Kibale National Park

Early Breakfast and leave the lodging for chimpanzee tracking (trekking). Other primates that may be observed include the Red-tailed monkeys and L’Hoest’s Monkeys. There are lots of Baboons among other primates. This is a fabulous forest that you will love. Imagine an African Rainforest filled with wildlife and primates. A place with exotic plants and trees, butterflies, birds in plenty and you are in it.

After lunch go to Bigodi Wetland Swamp. You will be here to view various birds and mammals. You will be here till early evening before returning to your accommodation for dinner.

Option: An all-day Chimpanzee Habituation Experience can be scheduled.  so that you are with the chimpanzees all day long and we either do Bigodi Wetlands on last day or drop it. 

Nocturnal Forest Walk in the Jungle…another highlight of your Kibale Forest Experience. Guided forest walks with spotlights to visit the creatures of the night in the Jungle. Bushbabies and Pottos are usually spotted amongst others.

Day 5: Transfer Back to Kampala and Departure

Drive from Kibale – Kampala
Leave after breakfast for Kampala lunch along the way. We arrive in the early evening in Kampala.
